Here, at Scrap Car Hull we always encourage everyone to dispose of any unwanted vehicles in a responsible manner in order to protect the environment. It is also great to get some cash in return, it’s a win-win deal for everyone. However, there are some very gifted and creative people out there, who take the idea of recycling old vehicles to the next level and turn scrap metal into stunning pieces of art, giving them new life and even turning the metal scrap into everyday items. One of the oldest and most iconic to date is the ‘Cadillac Ranch’ created by a group of artists called Ant Farm, located near Amarillo, Texas US, back in 1974. The installation presents old Cadillacs, upturned and half-buried in sand at the same angle as the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt. What’s interesting, all cars are covered in graffiti done by the public and this interaction has been highly encouraged by the artists. Another fantastic scrap car installation is located in Nebraska US, near the city of Alliance and presents a replica of the English Stonehenge, called Carhenge. It consists of 38 vintage American vehicles arranged in a circle just like the original monument and was conceived by artist Jim Reinders in 1987 as a memorial to his father. Have you ever wondered what happens with your car upholstery once it lands at the scrap yard? A Canadian company called Mariclaro specialise in creating bespoke and hand made bags and accessories out of reclaimed vehicle materials. The collection includes bags, briefcases, wallets, purses and even laptop bags made from interior materials of a Lamborghini, Mercedes Benz, BMW, Jaguar, Volvo and many more. For everyone looking for a unique furniture made from scrap cars or even scrap bikes, Bel & Bel company has plenty to offer. The brand was created by Carles Bel and Jesus Bel, and they specialise in creating beautifully customised furniture pieces made entirely from recycled vintage cars and bikes. Their vehicle furniture collection includes sofas, chairs and desks. They even craft monocycles and electric tricycles. It’s fantastic to learn that scrap metal can serve an artistic and even a practical purpose. For everyone interested in scrap metal art, it’s worth to check out some of the best scrap metal artists here in the UK, such as Jason Heppenstall, Harriet Mead or Jason Lane who exhibit their pieces in various galleries and art shows throughout the country.
